Hello, I am Derek Martinez

I teach Physical Science as well as 7th and 8th grade Science. This is my 2nd year teaching at Central High and 5th year overall I am also the Head Baseball Coach and assistant Football/Basketball coach.

  7TH GRADE SCIENCE SYLLABUS

Course Objectives: As a student you will be exposed to new scientific language and concepts, technology, and research. You will actively participate in laboratory investigations to develop or strengthen scientific attitudes and interests. You will be encouraged and guided towards taking an independent responsibility in your own learning, which will prepare you for college, technical school, and/or the workplace. This will be measured by your success in meeting the requirements to pass the class.

Course Materials:   During the semester, we will be using the following course materials:  Google Classroom and online materials.

Attendance Policy.  You must come to class on time, prepared with all your materials, and with a positive attitude. Once inside the classroom you will not leave the classroom with the exceptions of emergencies. 

Lateness:  Students are expected to be on time to class. There is no excuse to be late. 

Grading: LATE WORK WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED FOR FULL CREDIT. All work must be completed by the due date to receive full credit. If a student has an excused absence on the due date; work is due the day they get back. If they are absent on the day of assignment, they have the same number of days to complete the assignment that they were absent. 

Computers: Computers are not to be used during class without permission; they are not to be used for anything non-class related.
