Central High School Board Calls Bond Election for Career and Technology Education Center

At their regular October meeting, the Central High Board of Education unanimously approved a resolution calling for a Bond Election to be held on February 13, 2024 asking district voters to approve $6,160,000 of new facilities bonds.

The proceeds of the bonds will be used to construct a new Career and Technology Education (CATE) Center and Improvements.

Highlights of the Building and Improvements:

  • New Agriculture Classroom
  • New Meats Lab (with walk-in cooler)
  • New Agriculture Mechanics Shop
  • New FCCLA (Homemaking) Classroom
  • New FCCLA Culinary Arts Kitchen (Commercial Kitchen)
  • New STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Classroom
  • Creates 2 open classrooms at HS/MS/ES for growth.
  • Renovation of the current ag classroom to a locker room and weight room.
  • Renovation of football concession stand in ag building.

Highlights of the Bond

  • No tax increase.
  • 10 years on the tax rolls.
  • $6,160,000 for new facilities and improvements.
  • Emergency bonding capacity remaining if ever needed (approximately 30%).

The Board will host three public information meetings to answer questions on the proposal.
