Six Students from Central High School Family, Career, and Community Leaders recently attended the Lead Chapter Officer Conference.

The Lead Conference was September 8th at the Simmons Center in Duncan. Attending from Central High School were Chandler Baker, Sabrina Pollock, Dirk McGough, Allie Hale, Mark Lee, Jennifer Lopez and FCCLA Advisor Lisa Blaine. “Lead Conference is a great opportunity for our FCCLA chapter officers to gain leadership experience, network with other officers in their region, and learn how to make an impact on the organization”, said Brittani Phillips, FCCLA State Adviser.

The Officers attended workshops that were led by the Oklahoma State Officer Team. The Workshops focused on FCCLA history, forming “the dream team,” being better leaders, and time management.

For those who do not know, Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) is a national student organization for students in Family and Consumer Science. Since 1945 FCCLA (formerly known as FHA)has been making a lasting impact on differences in the home, school and community by leading through Family and Consumer Science Education. The Central High FCCLA has worked hard to let others know about FCCLA and the amazing opportunities it has to offer. “We have a lot of new members this year and are having more opportunities to get our new members involved.” said the Officer Team.

Oklahoma FCCLA serves approximately 10,000 members in 400 chapters in both middle school and high schools and technology center campuses. Known as the “Ultimate Leadership Experience”, participation in FCCLA national programs, competitive events, and chapter activities helps members gain skills for life and become strong leaders in their families, careers, and communities.

FCCLA’s mission is “to promote personal growth and leadership development through family and consumer science education.” It is the only CareerTech student organization with family as its central focus.
