Central High Board of Trustees Call a Bond Election for August to Build a New Elementary School

At a Special Meeting, Monday May 9, the Central High Board of Trustees approved a Resolution Calling for a Bond Election on Tuesday August 23, 2022. If approved by voters, If approved the proceeds from the sale of the $14.5 million-dollar Bond Issue will be used for the construction of a New Elementary School. The Bond Issue is a continuation of the current Bond program with no projected tax increase.

At their April meeting the Board adopted a Long-range Facilities Plan as presented by the Facilities Committee made up of parents and community members. The Committee met over several months during the Fall of 2021 and Spring of 2022. Phase 1 of the plan is to construct a New Elementary School. If approved and when completed, the New Elementary School will provide more classroom space under one roof, more classrooms for special programs, enhanced campus security, state of the art technology in the classrooms and tornado hardened hallways for improved protection during bad weather.

The Facilities Committee believes that the New Elementary School is the best way to benefit all CHS students. The current elementary school buildings will provide more classroom space for Middle School and High School students and give the district more space to explore other academic and extracurricular programs in the future.
